Current Volunteer Opportunities

This role is responsible for tracking medical information on new dogs coming in as well as ongoing vetting for puppies while they are with the rescue and through adoption.

  • Will initially work with Foster Coordinator to assure they have correct foster information for given dog / litter
  • Manages and maintains spreadsheet on all litters / puppies to track vetting (1st, 2nd, 3rd vaccs, microchips) as well as follow up and tracking of needed altering post adoption.
  • Documenting facility dog came from and location of vetting
  • Spreadsheet to be kept on Google docs where Foster Coordinator and other roles can also have access and continuing updating
  • Track all surgeries that are outside normal realm of vetting (medical cases such as leg surgeries, heartworm treatments, etc. which require follow up appointments)
  • Requires communication with foster coordinator initially and periodic communications with individual fosters to update and ensure accurate info is maintained.

This role is responsible for checking email on a DAILY basis to respond to inquiries regarding possible adopters.

  • Check email daily for new inquiries & applications (from Petfinder, general inquiries etc.)
  • Respond to each inquiry with status (use email template—see sent items) and application
  • Move inquiry to appropriate folder and out of inbox
  • Check for incoming applications and forward as appropriate (typically Tina or Nancy for review and if passes prelim requirements, they will forward for vet check).
  • New inquiries must be replied to within 24 hour period of receipt

This role is responsible for email blasts to foster and volunteer base to include a number of things but not limited to: Special Events, Fund Raising Opportunities and Adoption Even info monthly.

  • Work with Data Base Admins to assure a current list of foster / volunteers is used.
  • Work with Leadership on special events fundraising and special announcements
  • Handle special requests for posts to foster page (from Leadership)

This role is responsible for all final adoption follow up including (but not limited to): Final Contract, Vet Records and Payment. This may also include follow up with foster to assure CFR crate is returned when appropriate.

  • Work with Fosters directly to make sure they have tracking of home trials.
  • Follow up with adopters near end of 10 days trial to assure finalizing and send out final contract.
  • Work with Medical Coordinator to assure adopter understands any follow up needed and follow up with adopter for any post adoption appointments needed (spay / neuter for puppies etc.
  • Transporting dogs from the shelter to the veterinarian
  • Helping to set up and break down crates at adoption events
  • Working directly with the dogs at adoption events to ensure they get walked and receive plenty of attention
  • Making sure there’s plenty of water & treats at adoption events
  • Assisting with event planning and fundraisers
  • Collecting donations from supporters
  • Coordinating auction items for fundraisers
  • Helping to write bios for the adoptable dogs
  • Monitoring social media
  • General administrative tasks
  • Photographers can help capture a dog’s personality to accompany their bio
